(WAFF) - The town of Stevenson is hoping a new $25,000 investment will pay off by bringing in more revenue. Last week the Jackson County Commission approved $25,000 in funding to help create a new campsite at Stevenson Park. That money comes from the Jackson County Commission. Adding an RV site to the park has been a hope of city leaders for years. Mayor Rickey Steele said funding was hard to come by, so he decided to reach out to the Jackson County Commission for help.

Dorothy and her late husband, Ronald, came to the village in the late 1950s when Ronald got a job as gardener for Mr Parsons, a Stockton sweet factory owner, who lived in the Old House in Hurworth, and kept white fantail doves in the square cote. “My husband used to go into the dovecote to check to see if any rogue pigeons had got in,” says Dorothy. “If they had, he would give them to Mr Parsons who would release them on his way to the sweet factory.”
